About us

The Teacher Learning Academy (TLA) has been operating for four years and nearly 20,000 teachers have achieved, or are currently working towards attaining, professional recognition through the TLA. 

The Teacher Learning Academy is led by the General Teaching Council for England (GTC); Cambridge Education provides logistics services.

The GTC's purpose is to help improve standards of teaching and the quality of learning in the public interest.

The Teacher Learning Academy is a core strategic initiative for the GTC. The professional body is responsible for the strategy, quality control and future developments of the TLA. Please note that the GTC derives no income from the Teacher Learning Academy.

The GTC appointed Cambridge Education to manage the day-to-day operations of the TLA from September 2008.

As a major partner of the TLA, Cambridge Education is responsible for the management of teacher enrolments, the process to support the submission of projects and the training of Verifiers and Leaders.
